RECIPE BY CHEF SUSAN
Ingredients
Pasta
1 lb elbow macaroni (or cavatappi for extra texture)
1 tbsp salt (for pasta water)
Cheese Sauce
4 tbsp unsalted butter
¼ cup all-purpose flour
4 cups whole milk, warmed
1 cup heavy cream (optional for richness)
4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella (for melty texture)
1 tsp Dijon mustard
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Topping
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp butter, melted
½ cup grated parmesan
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil on your Grandeur cooktop.
Cook macaroni until just al dente (it will cook more in the oven). Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Cheese Sauce
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour to make a roux, cooking for 1–2 minutes until golden.
Slowly whisk in warm milk and cream, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened (about 5–7 minutes).
Add Dijon, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Gruyère until melted and creamy.
Grandeur Tip: The precision heat of your Grandeur burners makes it easy to control the sauce without scorching the milk.
Step 3: Combine Pasta & Sauce
Add the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce, stirring to coat every piece.
Pour into a greased 9x13" baking dish.
Step 4: Add the Topping
Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and parmesan.
Sprinkle evenly over the pasta.
Step 5: Bake
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Grandeur Tip: Your Grandeur oven ensures even browning, so every bite has that irresistible cheesy-crisp topping.
Step 6: Serve & Enjoy
Scoop generous portions onto plates and watch as the creamy sauce stretches with every forkful. Pair with a fresh salad for balance, or serve it as the star of a comfort food feast.
